The short version
- tradefloor is a simulated market. No real money or securities are involved, and nothing here is investment advice.
- You sign in with an emailed link. Keep your API keys secret, because you're responsible for what they do.
- Don't attack, overload or scrape the service, get around its limits, or use it to mislead people about real companies.
- The free plan's limits can change. There's no uptime promise, and the service may pause or end.
- What you put in stays yours. You let us store and run it to provide the service.
- AI answers can be wrong.
- Our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Simon Coombes ("we"), which provides tradefloor at app.tradefloor.dev, with its HTTP API, MCP server and Alpaca-shaped API. By making an account, signing in or using an API key, you accept them. The sign-in page says so, and we record which version of these terms you accepted and when. If you use tradefloor for an organization, you accept them for it too, and confirm you're allowed to. The privacy policy says how we handle personal data. Our contact details are at the end of this page.
What tradefloor is
tradefloor runs simulated stock markets. Prices, order fills, the economy and events all come from a model: the open-source tradefloor engine, run with a named preset. No real securities are bought or sold, no money moves, and no order reaches an exchange or a broker. The Alpaca-shaped API copies the shape of Alpaca's broker API so that existing bots can run here. It isn't connected to Alpaca, and we aren't affiliated with Alpaca.
Everything tradefloor returns is the output of a simulation, including prices, fills, events, report cards, suite verdicts and AI answers.
Not investment advice
Nothing on tradefloor is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. A result says how a strategy did against this model. It doesn't say how the strategy would do in a real market or in the future. The model is a simplification, and the service reports the realism checks each preset fails, so read them before you draw conclusions. We aren't a broker, an investment adviser or a market data vendor.
If you publish or share results from tradefloor, say they come from a simulation and keep the caveats the service reports with them.
Real companies and your prices
A session can use real companies. Their reported earnings, book value, revenue growth, share count and sector come from filings on the SEC's EDGAR system, which we fetch nightly and keep in versions, so a session always rebuilds from the data it started with. The figures can be out of date (up to a year behind a company's latest quarter) or wrong, and some companies are left out. Their prices, volatility, trading and events are simulated, so a result says nothing about the real stock.
Company names, tickers and index names such as Nasdaq-100 are used only to identify the companies, and they belong to their owners. tradefloor isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any company it lists, or by Nasdaq.
You can set a session's starting prices. We supply no market data, so those prices are yours. Only enter prices you have the right to use this way, for example under your data provider's license. After the open, the model moves them.
Don't present simulated prices, events or results for a real company as real prices, real news or a forecast, and don't use them to mislead anyone about a real company or its securities.
Your account
- You must be 16 or over.
- You sign in with a link or code we email you. There are no passwords, so anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Keep your inbox secure.
- Use an email address you control, one account per person, and don't share your account. We may refuse sign-ups from throwaway email services.
- Keep API keys secret. You're responsible for everything done with your account, your keys and the apps you connect, including by your agents and bots. If a key leaks, revoke it on the Keys page at once, and tell us if it was misused. If you lose a device, sign it out from the account page, where you can also sign out everywhere.
- You can change your account's email address on the account page. The change needs a link we send to the new address.
Acceptable use
Use tradefloor to test and learn about trading strategies and agents. Don't:
- try to get into other accounts or their data, probe for vulnerabilities, or get around any security or sign-in check;
- overload the service, including with load tests we haven't agreed to in writing;
- get around limits, for example with several accounts, shared keys or changing IP addresses;
- sign up or sign in by automated means, or scrape the site's pages (your programs should use the API and the MCP server, which are there for them);
- resell the service, or give others access to it, without our permission;
- try to make the AI answers do anything other than answer about your session, or use them in a way Anthropic's Usage Policy forbids;
- put unlawful, infringing or hateful material, or other people's personal information, in names, notes, questions or custom scenarios;
- use tradefloor to mislead anyone about real companies or markets, for market manipulation, or for anything else unlawful.
Calls over your limits are refused with an error that names the limit and when it resets. Wait as long as retry_after says, and don't retry in a tight loop.
Plans and limits
The free plan's limits are on the contact page, and your own limits and usage are on the Dashboard and at GET /v1/usage. Limits count per account, across all your keys. When the service is busy, new work (opening, advancing and forking sessions) can be refused until 00:00 UTC, first for accounts that have used more than their share of the day's compute and, past a higher level, for everyone.
We can give an account a larger plan, for example after a request on the contact page. Whether we do is up to us, and a granted plan lasts for the time we say or until we withdraw it.
We can change any plan's limits, including the free plan's, or withdraw a plan. If a change cuts your limits, we'll try to tell you first, but we may not be able to, for example when we must act to protect the service.
tradefloor is free today. If we add paid plans, they'll have their own terms, and nobody moves to one without agreeing to it.
Availability and your data
We make no promise of uptime. tradefloor runs within a fixed monthly budget and may pause when it's used up. We may change, pause or remove features, or retire an engine version or preset.
Sessions close after the idle time your plan allows, and each plan caps how many sessions you can store. Sessions a suite run opens for an agent are deleted 7 days after the run ends. We delete an account that has had no sign-in and no use of its keys or connected apps for 24 months, after emailing it a warning 30 days before; signing in keeps it. We don't promise to keep your data safe from loss, so download anything you need to keep from the account page or through the API.
We may end the service. If we do, we'll email you at least 30 days before, unless something outside our control, such as a law or a provider, stops us.
Your content
Your content is what you put into tradefloor: session settings and names, orders and order notes, starting prices, strategies, custom scenarios, questions and messages. You keep all your rights in it. You may use the results tradefloor gives you as you like, as long as you follow Not investment advice above.
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process and display your content as needed to run tradefloor for you. That includes sending it to the providers named in the privacy policy (such as a question and a session's facts to Anthropic when you ask for an AI answer), showing class work to your teacher, and letting anyone with the id of a custom scenario you share see it and run it. The license ends when you delete the content, except for copies in logs and backups until they expire, and scenarios you shared that other people have already used in their sessions.
You confirm that you have the rights to your content and that it doesn't break these terms. We may remove content that does. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
The open-source engine
The tradefloor engine that models the markets is open source, at github.com/simoncoombes/tradefloor, under your choice of the MIT License or the Apache License 2.0. Those licenses, not these terms, govern your use of its code, and you can run it yourself.
These terms cover the hosted service: the app, its API and MCP server, and the server code behind them, which isn't open source. Using the service gives you no rights in that code beyond using the service.
AI answers
Anthropic's Claude models write AI answers from facts our server computes about your session. We check the numbers in each answer against those facts, and show a template answer instead when they don't match, but an AI answer can still be wrong, incomplete or misleading. Check it against "Show the numbers". Neither AI answers nor quick answers are advice.
The free plan includes a daily number of AI answers, and AI answers pause for everyone when the day's budget for them is used up. We may change these limits or turn AI answers off.
Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using tradefloor at any time and delete your account yourself on the account page, as the privacy policy describes. Download your data first if you want it: a deleted account can't be restored.
We may suspend or close your account, revoke your keys or connected apps, or refuse sign-in if you break these terms, if your use puts the service or other people at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right. While an account is suspended, its data is kept.
When your account is closed, your right to use tradefloor ends. The sections on your content, the engine's license, disclaimers, liability and governing law still apply.
Disclaimers
tradefloor is provided as it is and as available. As far as the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond those in these terms, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, free of errors or fit for a particular purpose, or that its simulations resemble any real market. If you're a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you that a contract can't take away.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, and as far as the law allows:
- we're not liable for losses from real trades, or from any other decision, that you base on anything tradefloor shows you;
- we're not liable for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- our total liability to you for all claims about tradefloor is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.
If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, and not for loss that wasn't foreseeable.
If you use tradefloor for a business, you'll compensate us for claims by other people, and their reasonable costs, that arise from your breach of these terms or from your content.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and signed-in users see a notice on the site until they've seen it. If a change is material, we'll email every account at least 14 days before it applies, unless it's needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using tradefloor after a change applies, the new terms apply to you. If you don't agree, stop using tradefloor and delete your account on the account page.
Governing law and disputes
The law of the State of North Carolina, United States, governs these terms, and its courts decide any dispute about them. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can also bring a claim in its courts.
General
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about tradefloor. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to whoever takes over tradefloor, and we'll tell you if we do. You may not transfer yours without our agreement. Nobody else has rights under these terms.
